Many new arrivals to Austria have taken advantage of our resources to help them adapt to the Austrian way of life, or to guide them through the relocation process itself. When you join InterNations, you'll find detailed and trustworthy answers to a huge range of frequently asked questions, such as, "how reliable is Austrian public transportation?", "what are the best districts in which to find affordable flats in Vienna?" and "what are the differences between Austrian and Standard German?". Our members are always happy to offer advice and support to fellow expats. As a country at the heart of Europe, Austria has a rich and diverse international community, and InterNations is your door to joining them and discovering the many advantages to living in this country — from sampling the delicious Viennese street food to exploring the stunning landscapes of Innsbruck and Tirol.

With InterNations, you never stand alone. Whether you are moving to another country or going on a business trip somewhere — our communities around the world are there to make you feel at home wherever you are. I could also recommend the BusBahnBim app. Its available at least for iPhone and Android, it is VERY handy to check the schedules & routes of public transportation!

A thriving heartland of European culture, Austria is one of the most diverse and picturesque countries on the continent. Bordering no fewer than eight other European states — Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia and Liechtenstein — it is also strikingly diverse, with a rich and storied history. Frequently ranked among the top countries in the world for development and quality of life, Austria welcomes an enormous international community to its key cities, not to mention a thriving tourist trade. As a major international center for business and trade, job opportunities in Austria are plentiful and diverse — from tourism and services to finance, logistics and project management. Whether you're in the thriving cosmopolitan center of Vienna, the rich cultural heartland of Salzburg or the stunning Alpine region of Tirol, as an expat you'll find so much to enjoy in this friendly and unique European nation.
