It's possible to live your life solely in the expat community, or seamlessly merge into the local lifestyle, or anything in between. Erbil has a strong economy and is home to a large number of local, regional, and international companies. Entertainment for expats includes gyms, dance, sports, yoga, walking groups, and an active café community. There are many cultural centers and Erbil also boasts a number of wonderful cinemas, hosting the International Film Festival. There are also many parks and people enjoy heading out for a trip to the mountains when the weather is pleasant. In terms of culture, Erbil dates back to at least 6,000 BC, making it one of the oldest cities in the world.
